How it started

Back in school, Aryan Singhania and Burhanuddin Arenpurwala had one thing in common besides terrible exam scores: an obsession with snacks. Years later, when they decided to build something of their own, the question wasn’t what to build — it was what India was actually missing.

The answer was right there on every kirana shelf, dusty and ignored: makhana. A superfood that had been sitting quietly in Indian kitchens for centuries, waiting for someone to actually make it exciting.

“Why does every flavoured makhana taste like cardboard with ambition? We decided to fix that.”

So they sourced straight from the farms of Darbhanga, Bihar — the heartland of India’s makhana supply — and got to work. The result was Makhanix: bold flavours, premium jars, and a brand built for people who refuse to settle for boring snacks.

Why makhana?
